Non-traditional Wedding Rings

People have always secretly wished to be different, to stand out of the crowd in a way, even when conforming to the social norms was most appropriate. These days however people are no longer covert in their intentions of being different. And that shows in everything people do, including weddings. More and more people are trying to mix tradition with the personal touch that would make them and their wedding stand out and be unique.



This will reflect in the wedding themes, the wedding ceremony and reception venues, colors of flowers and decorations, shapes and colors of wedding cakes and also in wedding rings. If the simple gold bands were traditional a while back, these days nontraditional wedding rings are more complex and can be made out of a variety of materials.



Putting aside the desire to be unique, nontraditional wedding rings can also be less expensive than traditional ones. The wedding is a beautiful moment in a person’s life, but weddings are expensive. Also the costs of beginning a life together are quite high. And in these uncertain times people are trying to cut down costs for everything, including weddings. Wedding rings can be made out of a variety of cheaper materials, that are still beautiful and perhaps less flashy.

For some, choosing a nontraditional wedding ring means more than standing out of the crowd or reducing costs. Some view the traditional exchange of rings as an exchange of love, which is why they choose something that is unique and personal to them and also more meaningful. For some following with tradition is simply not enough, doesn't carry enough meaning.

And yet for others traditional wedding rings are simply not practical. Some lifestyles or work fields will render traditional wedding rings unpractical.Some people have proved to be very creative in creating their wedding rings. An example of creativity would be wedding bands on which the actual sound waves of the people saying 'I do' have been engraved by laser. Other examples are wedding rings made of ceramics into simple unique rings and acrylic diamond rings that come in several colors. Although the last examples demonstrate creativity they will probably not be chosen by people who will want their wedding rings to last forever.



Choosing nontraditional wedding rings is the way i would choose to go. Conforming to norms simply because they exist or because traditional families try to impose them on us seems inappropriate. Choosing to put meaning into rings is like reinforcing the wedding vows. Many people choose to stick to simple vows, because they have a hard time expressing private feelings in private, but wedding rings can receive meaning in a secret way. Wedding rings can be unique and personal in a very private way that makes them all the more beautiful.
