She had spent her early years of existence in an orphanage and because of this fact her teenage period was strongly marked by the quest of finding someone to protect her and to chase her solitude away. This feature in her personality kept populating her being till the day she had encountered death. She was by nature too sensitive, some still mistake this sensitivity with a fake displaying of innocence.
Throughout her short life Marilyn Monroe got married three times (with James Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller) and one may think that as a Hollywood starlet she definitely would have owned loads of jewelry. In fact this is not true. She was using jewelry but only as loans from the jewels that were using her in their commercials. In movies she also wore pieces of jewelry especially in the movie "Gentlemen prefer blondes" where she interpreted the famous song 'Diamonds are best girl friends' she appeared to wear only prop items. All the jewels Marilyn Monroe ever owned were two pieces of authentic high-class jewelry and both were received as a wedding gift from her husband Joe DiMaggio. One was a necklace, a strand of pearls from Japan and the other one was a diamond and platinum Eternity Band given by Joe on their wedding day.
Marilyn Monroe wedding ring is a sparkling fiery platinum ring, that holds 35 baguette-cut diamonds cut in the shape of a narrow rectangle, and it was worth valuing USD 772,500 at an auction in 1999, though it missed one of the diamonds.
As some reporters of several star magazines noticed, there has been and still is a fashion that celebrity weddings rings are often replicated, allowing couples to identify with their favorite stars. Also the design of Marilyn Monroe wedding ring is often replicated, only that the finger that is supposed to wear it is not raising to the glamour and fascination that Marilyn Monroe had given to us throughout her short time career.
Marilyn Monroe wasn't the sophisticated starlet to demand expensive things to surround her life; her presence was enough to radiate the shinning and enchantment of a jewel itself. In her heart she always felt and remained the simple girl named Norma Jean Mortensen.
