Jewish Star David Rose Gold Wedding Rings

The Star of David is generally known to be the symbol of Jewish identity and Judaism; it is named after King David of the old Israel and came into known communal usage in the Middle Age, geometrically drawn in the shape of a hexagram. Several biblical scholars have given different interpretation to the star, one of these saying that the 6 points of the star symbolizes the number of days when God created the world and the center represents the 7th day when God rested. Others say that the symbolic meaning of the two combined triangles are said to point to the astrological positions of the star at the time David was made king.

In time this symbol gained popularity being used as motif for many decorative techniques, such as engraving the jewels or even jewels made in the shape of the star of David. Due to this symbol, the people of Israel are recognized all around the world. Some may believe that it can’t be any other motif better to be used in engraving wedding rings, for instance. But for start it is good to know that a ring is not necessarily required in a Jewish wedding. The bride has to accept something valuable from the groom, but this doesn’t have to be a ring! In case it comes to a ring this object is a plain solid gold band, and that’s it! As simple as that; no precious stones, no embellishments – this is the most traditionally authentic wedding ring.

Engraving is one of the thing that has been assimilated in the art of jewelry even for the most traditional Jewish ones. Thus the star of David appeared to be one of the motifs in engravings and cutting through the precious metal in order to obtain a Jewish star of DavidĀ  wedding ring.

And for the effect of this symbol to be more obvious jewelers have chosen different precious metals to engrave the star and they succeeded in obtaining a ratherĀ  special and hard to forget effect. For example they use rose gold which is a gold and copper alloy being known also as pink gold or red gold and was popular in Russia at the beginning of the 19th century. But with this special engraving, jewelers made a wonderful Jewish star David rose gold wedding ring that not so many wedding couples could ignore.

An aspect that is quite different from our Western countries tradition is that during the Jewish wedding ceremony, the rings are placed on the right hand pointing finger and not on the left hand ring finger!
