How Many Men Wear Their Wedding Ring

It is known by all of us, women have worn wedding rings since  forever. What only a few of us know, is that men haven`t. Although the  wedding ring is the symbol of love, men did not use to wear them  thousand of years ago. Although the wearing of mens wedding rings is becoming increasing common  today this is a relatively recent change and is still not entirely  accepted by many men.

Men`s wedding rings became common since the second world war only.  Soldiers used the wedding ring to show their commitment to their wife,  so it was first used by them as a public symbol, and not as a symbol of  everlasting love.

Because it became as popular for men as  for women nowadays to wear  the wedding ring, if a married man is seen without a wedding band, he is  thought to be hiding his marital status. Nevertheless, another reason  why men wear the ring, is to show the equality between him and his wife,  and the fact that they are both prepared for spending a lifetime  together.

Still, the opinions differ from man to man. For example, there are  still some males, who find the wearing of  a ring too feminine, but this  shouldn`t be such a problem, because there are many masculine rings,  with a solid band design, that can be easily distinguished from a  feminine ring. These rings are made from specific metals, like Titanium  or Platinum, which seem to become more and more popular between guys,  because this rings seem to suit their “heavy” personality as well, an  idea which they like. For sure a diamond ring would not be that  pleasurable for a man to wear.

As far as the comfort of wearing a ring is concerned, there are lots  of different designs, so it is impossible for the groom, not to find a  ring which fits right on his finger.

For those, who still do not manage to feel comfortable or can not  accept the idea of wearing a ring, there are other variants  of making  your marriage and commitment public, such as engraved watches, for  example. Although this methods are considered not to be that  traditional, there are couples who decide together how they want to  demonstrate their level of commitment. It is known, there are women too,  who take out their wedding ring after the ceremony, so people won`t  believe, they actually are now the propriety of a man.

So, saying how many mean wear their wedding ring is not really  definable, but most of the modern men are used to the idea, and accept  the fact that this is how things should be done. Furthermore, wearing a  wedding ring is considered to be only one of the many choices the man  will have to make, once he decides to get married. But it is still up to  the couple`s decision: Will he, or won`t he wear a wedding ring. Will  she, or won`t she accept, that he doesn`t?!
